threeway and Fourway switches

My electrical instructer cannot find ,in the code ,a limit to the number of three and four way switches that can be installed between devices.
can anyone help with this

That's because there is no limit unless you are using the electronic dimmers that dim from every location--- there you are limited to 10 , I believe.

As Dennis has pointed out there is no NEC limit to the number of 3 way and 4 way switches that you are permitted to install on a circuit.

I remember a discussion years ago in class about how many receptacles you could put on a 15a residential circuit. Most people answer "As many as you want." Well, some wisenhiemer in class measured the loss at each splice, and calculated a mathematical limit between 8,000 - 10,000. Given that, I'm sure there's a limitdue to the losses created at each switch termination. How that relates to a splice, I wouldn't know, but at some number you would reach so much line loss that the light would have no voltage to run on.

Theoretically speaking, of course.
 
Maybe we should have it as part of the X games - who first will put too many four ways for the light to go out.
