Anyone have a thumb rule they are willing to share, regarding the amount of power that various types of buildings will draw? I am looking at the design side, not the actual running load for which the utility will send their invoices. I would use this as a preliminary estimate of service load early in a design project. Something along the lines of,
  • General office building, XX W/SF
  • Hotel (i.e., non-dwelling unit living quarters), XX W/SF
  • Data center, XX W/SF
  • etc.

TIA

typically 12-13w/sf for an office building.

around 8-10w/sf for hotel

data centers can approach 50-100 depending on what clients, etc.

These are design estimates...actual measured load will be significantly less.
