Re: tie raps ?

I think caddy clips makes some for this type of installation. I use electrical tape and or ty-raps but not for long runs. I just support them from the building.

I think it is allowed by the NEC as per artical:300.11 (B), 800.52 (E) 800.6

300.11
(B) Raceways Used as Means of Support. Raceways shall only be used as a means of support for other raceways, cables, or nonelectric equipment under the following conditions:
(1) Where the raceway or means of support is identified for the purpose; or
(2) Where the raceway contains power supply conductors for electrically controlled equipment and is used to support Class 2 circuit conductors or cables that are solely for the purpose of connection to the equipment control circuits; or
(3) Where the raceway is used to support boxes or conduit bodies in accordance with 314.23 or to support luminaires (fixtures) in accordance with 410.16(F)

(C) Cables Not Used as Means of Support. Cable wiring methods shall not be used as a means of support for other cables, raceways, or nonelectrical equipment.

But conduit can not be used for any other type of comunication cable.

800.52 (E)
(E) Support of Conductors. Raceways shall be used for their intended purpose. Communications cables or wires shall not be strapped, taped, or attached by any means to the exterior of any conduit or raceway as a means of support.
And also:

800.6 Mechanical Execution of Work.
Communications circuits and equipment shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner. Cables installed exposed on the outer surface of ceiling and sidewalls shall be supported by the structural components of the building structure in such a manner that the cable is not be damaged by normal building use. Such cables shall be attached to structural components by straps, staples, hangers, or similar fittings designed and installed so as not to damage the cable. The installation shall also conform with 300.4(D).

There is no requirement for the supports to be "listed" for this application.

300.11(2) Where the raceway contains power supply conductors for electrically controlled equipment and is used to support Class 2 circuit conductors or cables that are solely for the purpose of connection to the equipment control circuits
Other than what is described in 300.11(2) you can not use conduit to support low voltage cables.

The most common application of this I see is thermostat wires down to a boiler or furnace.

The thermostat wires will be taped or tie wrapped to the EMT bringing the line voltage to the unit.
