Can someone please clarify the code on bundling MC cable with tie wire. I always thought this was a heat factor issue as is similiar to number of circuits in conduit before derating. But if this was the case then there would be no issue of bundling MCs of the same circuit limited by the same 20A branch circuit breaker. Any one who can advise on this I would be greatly appreciative.

According to article 310.15(B)(2) exception 5- 2008 NEC you can bundle MC cables up to 20 current carrying conductors.

That is providing the conductors are #12 and no more than three current carrying conductors per cable.
