Tightening 4" compression fitting

What are you guys using to tighten these fittings we started with strap wrenches and they are not working too great

Have you looked at chain type pipe wrenches instead of straps? If is does not damage the fitting, it will have a better grip.

Why what is wrong with 4" threadless?

I carry and use strap wrenchs and feel its the right tool for the job. Does take some pratice to keep them lined up correctly and two men on a fitting is a plus.

don't toss it in the trash. bring it to the recycler on your way home and collect 50 cents.

In the packing house, the 4" and 6" pipes that carried the meat often had large hex nuts at the connections. We used large, short-handle aluminum open-end wrenches to tighten them. Something like this:
