Hi all,

Not familiar with time clock. Do they only have scheduled on/off function and do not have dimming capability? I would like to have the exterior wall packs controlled by time clock and motion sensor, but the time clock will perform the on/off and also dim the lights say to 30% after business close and to 100% one hour before business open. Are there any time clock products that can do both (on/off and dimming)? How else do you dim the exterior lights at certain time? Thanks.

How exactly do you wire it? Do you need a two-circuit time clock? The time clock will turn on at dusk and off at dawn.

Technically you will be using a Lighting Control Panel. Acuity ARPINTENC08 NLT is one example that will perform the functions you are looking for.

Two time clocks. First one just controls the power to the lights as normal. Set it to when you want them to come on and off. Second one controls the dimming. Open = 100%, resistor across the dimming leads =30%.

You can do pretty much all of this with Keystone outdoor fixtures and their microwave motion sensors that have 0-10v dimming control, and built-in photocells in the fixtures. This is all I used the last few years on design-build outdoor lighting installs. They have an IR remote control used to program each sensor. I would also use their nipple-mounted sensors to control other brands of 0-10v dimmable fixtures at building entryways. The larger Keystone outdoor LED fixtures have a threaded insert that accepts a small button motion/dimming sensor.

You could always use a basic 0-10v wall dimmer and a dry contact output and put the dry contact in the way of 0-10v circuit. In the closed position, set the slider to desired level. The 0-10v control section of the dimmer is isolated from the switch, so if it's a basic slide/rotary 0-10v, you don't need AC power at the switch to function. The 0-10v dimming can operate on its won.

When contact is open, it runs at full output. When it's closed, it runs at whatever dimmed setting chosen by the sliding dimmer.

As in post #8.
