Times the NEC tells the manufacturer what to do!

Had an interesting discussion about how many times the NEC actually tells the manufacturer what to do with their product instead UL or the Consumer product Safety Commission. It's not often you see this, because normally the NEC ends at the building outlet as we say, but a few times you look through the code book and see them tell the manufacturer what is required and what is not. This topic came up about some motor equipment that needed to have some info on it that the manufacturer over looked. We were able to calculate loads on our own, but I just wanted to list a few where the NEC tells the manufacturer what to do.

NEC 2008.

430.8 Tells to mark the controllers
430.7 Tells what marking to put on Motors and equipment
422.51 Tells that gfci shall be an intergral part of the plug
422.61 Tells manufacturer to put ratings on heating elements

Know of anymore off the top of your head?? It appears that motors are where they do this the most in telling the manufacturer what to do.

I'm not going to look through all of them but I am pretty sure most of the wire and cables are required to be marked with certain information and NEC also tells how or where they are to be marked. I think there are some similar requirements in raceways sections. There are many sections titled "construction specifications" or something similar that normally is a manufacturer issue more than an installer issue. I think you will find a lot of these type of sections mostly in Ch 3 because that is the heart of requirements for most basic materials and there are a few more in Ch 4.
