Tinned copper bus

Regarding tinned copper busses, is the tin a corrosion/oxidation protector. I have seen on occasion aluminum set srew type lugs bolted to this type of bus. Is this acceptable without the use of some type of joint compound?

Tin is the most inert plating commonly used on bus bars. It is used in corrosive enviroments like paper mills. Silver plating there would turn black in a matter of weeks. Think about how long a tin roof will last being exposed to the elements.

I would think the listing for the lug would specify if a special compound is required.

In corrosive marine environments, specs usually call for stranded tinned copper conductors.
