I just checked my supply store prices on the 8' fixtures that hold 4 4' t8 lamps with electronic ballast and the 4' fixtures for 2 4' t8's

twice as much light for just a little more. I would not even consider 4' fixtures.
Some shop buildings I have worked in just could not be lit. Dark walls and floors suck up light.
I've never put too much light in a work area.
