Hello i have been reading the Title 24 requirements for indoor lighting on new construction until my eyes are bleeding. Basically, we have a 30,000 ft2 building with no interior walls, it will containg various amounts of pistachio processing machinery. The ceiling height is 34ft. with a 12" pitch to the top. There are 3 exits. What exactly will be needed to comply with Title 24 requirements? The structure does not have any skylights. If anyone out there can help me or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it!:?

Lighting requirements can vary considerably when looking at work-plane illumination and also considering energy conservation that Title 24 ensues. Placement of equipment within the structure will define most of the concentrated illumination. The best bet is to setup a meeting with the Building department for a pre-permit consultation for lighting installation.

Consultation with the equipment installer can resolve code variations from the local AHJ industrial requirements. A processing plant can have less lighting in some areas compared to other task visibility area safety constraints.

Title 24, Part 6 Interior Lighting Compliance

Title 24, Part 6 Interior Lighting Compliance

Looks like your Project would be in the High Bay Commercial / Industrial Work Category, which allows for a Lighting Power of 1.0 Watts per square foot.
The Floor Area will be considered Unconditioned.
Auto Shutoff controls, area Bi-Level Lighting Controls, etc. will be required too.
Emergency Egress Lighting is exempt from the General Lighting Power.

In a nutshell, the General Lighting Power in the Processing Area may be up to 30, 000 Watts (total Fixture True Power - includes Lamps and Ballast Loads).
Egress Lighting is separate, and designed as needed.
Lighting Controls may include Occupancy Sensors, but must have the ability to reduce the Lighting Power 30% to 60%. Most common method is via "a/b" Bi-Level Switching Controls.
Automatic Shutoff controls are also required.
Occ. Sensors fulfill this requirement, as well as Timeclocks and Lighting Control Panels with Timed events.

There are several other items, but this basic stuff should help get you going.
