I was told to remove my bond from gas to to cold water by one inspector... But the previous inspector insisted that I bond the two in order to receive a final?

Technically, wouldn't that be improper gas line bonding if the cold water connection is greater than 5' from building entry and water line is a grounding electrode?

How can you "overbond" anything and what in the NEC would prohibit this?

Was your gas bond in series or bonding point before the meter possibly making it an electrode? ---- Do you have CSST gas piping run in the building as a branch feed to an appliance? -- under normal circumstances with no CSST run as described you are properly bonded thru a gas appliance branch circuit EGC.

you should ask for code sections from the inspector and give more details for a proper response.
