How much does 2,400 ft. of 4/0 Aluminum XHHW weigh!?!?

Hi Dave, I'll take a stab at this.... According to what I found on Southwire's web page, the wire should weigh approximately 592.8lbs. I hope someone else will come up with the same to help my ego.

Oops....That figure should be close, but there may be a small additional ammount for the reel (based on 1000' per reel) What do they way I wonder? Maybe subtract 80lbs or so.

According to Southwires literature, 4/0 AL XHHW has an approx weight of 247 lbs per 100 feet. Therefore if my math is correct, 2400 feet should weigh 592.8 lbs.

Don't forget, once you connect it to the power source, it will fill up with electrons and get heavier.

If the poco is utilizing combination copper / aluminum electrons it would be heavier
