Re: To make a Long story short!

Hi Dave, I'll take a stab at this.... According to what I found on Southwire's web page, the wire should weigh approximately 592.8lbs. I hope someone else will come up with the same to help my ego.

Re: To make a Long story short!

Oops....That figure should be close, but there may be a small additional ammount for the reel (based on 1000' per reel) What do they way I wonder? Maybe subtract 80lbs or so.

Re: To make a Long story short!

According to Southwires literature, 4/0 AL XHHW has an approx weight of 247 lbs per 100 feet. Therefore if my math is correct, 2400 feet should weigh 592.8 lbs.

Thank You, Thank You very much!
:D

It's not as heavy as I thought it would be... that's a good thing!

Re: To make a Long story short!

Don't forget, once you connect it to the power source, it will fill up with electrons and get heavier.

Just kidding of course.

Re: To make a Long story short!

Don't listen to Steve, aluminum electrons aren't that heavy. :D

Re: To make a Long story short!

Aluminum electrons are not that heavy but ...
If the poco is utilizing combination copper / aluminum electrons it would be heavier
