I have the smaller version of the Krieg Pocket hole kit.
A tool I just got my self for christmas is a Bosch Jig Saw.
Last year I got a Makita 14.4 volt drill -impact driver and flashlight. The impact driver is almost as usefull as the drill, esp for driving screws.
A new tool would be one of the LED work lights- no heat, no lamps to break.

I think one of those little Bosch impact screwdrivers would be at the top of my list too. I used a guy's on a job just to check it out, and boy... those little things are pretty impressive.

Dear Santa:

I know you're very busy this time of year, so I'll keep my wish list short.

All I want for Christmas is just a few simple tools.

A bender for bending a little bit of conduit,

A new meter,

A little 'ole wire tugger,

And I have some poles to set soon,

Oh, and I'll need some way of hauling all this around.

Edit to add:
Oh yeah, one of these, too!

Thank you.

P.S.: Mommy said you were getting fat, so no cookies for you this year. But I will have some carrots, celery sticks and Diet Pepsi waiting for you.

Those Maxis pole-setting gizmo's are pretty neat, aren't they? I watched their online video on them a year or so back. Seems like they were only a couple grand. Way cheaper than a bucket truck, and would pay for itself by avoiding just a few crane rentals. The manufacturer even said you could use it to take the poles down to do ballast maintenance. I don't know about that one. Seems like a lot of work to change a lamp and ballast.

If you can get a PoleJack for 2 grand, get me one and I'll pay you three. I priced them this summer and it was either 4600 or 4300.

That was off the top of my head. Still, that's not too shabby. There might be more than one company that makes them, perhaps? The video I saw showed chucking up a cordless drill to the pole jack to raise and lower the standard. Is that the one you have pictured?

Yes, but I have my doubts as to how well a cordless would hold up under such use. I can see one, maybe two poles, but not a mall parking lot! And not a 12V, either.

AFAIK, Maxis is the only outfit making such a rig. But just wait, someone will post a link and make me a liar.

Marc in the middle of posting the wonders of the slow speed Hughes kicked me off for the 1,000,000 time.

I changed my mind and want FIOS for Christmas so I can dump Hughes.

Bummer. I have cable internet, and it's never let me down. Sometimes the computer starts doing stuff, seemingly on its own, in the background that slows things down CPU and memory wise. The cable internet is screaming fast.

Those suckers have a retail of $4300. Maybe sale price around $4k or so.

I was checking those out last night on Maxxis' site. They've got some pretty neat stuff. I like the Pull-It 1000:

This little rig would come in handy for the smaller stuff.
