hey guys hooked up a system today for customer. took down old box put new one up. marked everything in box as to what breaker except for two orange wires that simpily passed from one pipe to another pipe cut and spliced one wire to other total of 4 wires and two splices. customer tries to turn system on gets a few spouts of water then motor stops. I arive on job site check out voltage on breakers contact and manual start all check out. break orange wires and somehow ive got power. did I shoot 240v to this customers motor? cant get to motor its 65 ft down gravity fed I think its gravity fed any opinions thanks

Re: toro sprinkler system

hal it was definitely a had to be there for this one. I bought a piggyback 20a breaker thinking it was a double pole mini breaker. I install it dont check to make sure system works leave job. customer calls me back at 945pm says hey it doesnt work go over there and ive got all my wires hooked up corectly. so I go to contact and its hooked up right. thats where the two orange wires get there power go from contact to motor through the panel. now im tired and not thinking so I go home return this afternoon and flip breakers and realize that the breakers are two 110 seperate breakers put in dbl pole and its all gravy

Re: toro sprinkler system

southernboys,
I have simular system at my home.I have a senser in a plastic device/with arm mounted on my home. This senser has a "cork" in device that controls the motor run/pumping operation.

Cork responds to weather condition, swells up closing the norminally open operation of the device,in stopping the motor from operating and pumping water onto lawn, due to the condition of inpending weather.

It is a (switch) mind you..Just two wires...

You say you returned to home, broke these two wires, and motor& system operated fine?

They could have one of these type switches.

just a thought..

Re: toro sprinkler system

dillion thanks but what I did is have two 110 breakers installed rather then one 240 breaker which is what the motor needed
