More important would be matching the torque range of the wrench to the expected torque requirements of the equipment.

A 3/8" will do 99% of what you need in most electrical installations. I have never seen a bus bar splice or a cable termination that exceeded the average highest torque of 100 Ft. Lbs.

100 ft pounds is a bit tough for a 3/8 calibrated in inch pounds.

Get a 3/8 first. That will meet most of your needs. Then buy the 1/2 as soon as you can.
