torque wrenches

I am looking to buy a torque wrench for tightening. Any recomendations? Something affordable and well built. Thanks

all my torque wrenches are klein. you should get the 250 inchpound and the 0 - 75 foot pound if you choose. stanley proto makes the big long allen keys you need to use on breakers.

I made my own with allen wrenches cut off with a chop saw and epoxied into sockets. I needed many sizes not available commercially.

thats a good idea. i spent 100 dollars on the standard and metric set

I got mine from the gentleman that drives the Mac Tools truck.

I have both a Husky and a Mountain torque wrench, the Husky I use all the time. I am very happy with it and if I remember correctly it was around $60.

Yep same one (From Mac Tools) I have. Also, I like my klein torque screw driver as well....little pricey though.

Torque wrenches come in all flavors today, there are many different models to choose from. One should check the types of terminations he will be installing and then choose his wrench based on the range of torque value the particular wrench will satisfy.

what is the highest torque specs an electrician is likely to encounter in a job.

That's why I have two of them. 3/8 and 1/2.

I would say that is a wide open question. The equipment is so varied I would not venture to guess what the answer is.

my klein 0-75 foot pound torque wrench is pretty much the only one i use in most cases. i just convert inch pounds to footpounds. the range of work i do is pretty wide i do from small residential 100 amp services to 3000+ switchgear. a torque screwdriver is a good investment too i have the klein one but theres many different kinds some with even higher ranges for those slotted terminals
