Towel Warmer Location?

I searched the forum - and this topic has been discussed before a number of times, but this particular detail was not addressed.

My question is - can a hard wired towel warmer be located within the foot print of a tub? No shower, whirlpool type tub.

I don't like the idea, and neither does the electrician who has been asked to install, but we cannot find a code section to dis-allow.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What does the manufacturer say? There should be some information from them on this type of installation. Is it 120volt or 240volt? Can you put it on a GFCI protected circuit?

There is no specific code section that prohibits this, but as pointed out already, check the manufactures installation instructions they will probably give you specifics as to permitted locations.

Thanks for the replies.

The owners have not picked a specific model yet - that was my first response...show me the manufacturer's literature for review.

The electrician has provided a gfci circuit. 120 volt.

I have seen instructions for two different manufacturers ,.. they both prohibited installations in wet locations . If they are hardwired I don't see any issues.
