Tower Ground, Bonding

All,

If we have a tower, currently has 3 grounds rods, all interconnected. All of the ground rods are buried under ground. From the tower legs, there are 3 #2 conductors leading to those buried ground rods (part of the conductors are above the ground).

If I need to connect more systems to the ground, may I bond the new #2 conductor to one of the three #2 conductors mentioned above using a 'split bolt connector' ??

Thanks

Yes you can extend the ground electrode. But I would never rccommend a split bolt, rather exothrmic weld.

Thanks, I totally agree that using exothermic weld will produce much a better connection...

If someone uses a split bolt in this case, will it be
NEC-compliant ??
