Went to a residential finish today, homeowner supplied all light fixtures. When I get to the master closet I find this flexible track light? It is halogen with the lamps slightly recessed in the lamp holder. Now the closet is huge probably 10'x12'. The track will be in a half circle. I couldn't get a hold of the ahj today and just wanted to hear some opinions. Also, this lady has a kitchen island with drawers on both sides and no way to mount a box. Clearance is maybe 5/8? and she wants two receptacles. The back of the island has a 12? overhang, I really have been scratching my head over this one all day especially since I couldn?t get a hold of the ahj, and I don?t know what else to do except mount them on the backside. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does the light have a completely enclosed lamp?
If so, then I think you are OK.

The island: Is there enough room between the countertop and the first drawer down to put a plug strip?

This has come up before. The fact is track lighting is a terrible light for a closet. If you look at 410.16 (A) I would say that a track light is not permitted in a closet.

Now we have 2 opinions.

I would have the cabinet drawers shortened and install the outlet on the side.

You could use one of these. sillites

What about installing WireMold?
