I would like to know how you guys understand this part on the code that says: An ADDITIONAL load of 150 VA shall be included per every 2' of track. Does this mean that on top of your connected load (track heads) you should apply the extra 150 VA or only if you calculate you service size using table 220.3(A)? How do you calculate the lighting load on a panel that has some track lighting connected to it?

Beta, this provision for length of track only.

In otherwords forget the connected heads and calculate the 150va per every 2'.

If you know the load there is nothing wrong with using it, but you will miss the question if this is an exam.

220.12 is not concerned with the actual track, but the hypothetical load on the Feeder or Service size.

I agree. The idea is that the owner may come back next week and add a couple of heads. So the calculated load cannot be based on the number of heads that you initially install. It has to be based on the length of the track, since that will limit (at least to some reasonable extent) the number of heads that can be installed.

I think its important to note that this is only for feeder/service calc's, not the actual installation. The "in addition to" is refering to in addition to the 3VA(?) per square foot
