If I have a job with 300 feet of track lighting with 45 heads with 50 watt lamps, do I still have to add 22,500 va to my service and feeders (220.12b 2002 N.E.C.) when the actual load is only 2250 watts?

Re: track lighting

I agree with Ryan. You may say that the ?actual load? is only 2250 watts, but nothing stops the owner from installing more head or larger bulbs, as soon as you leave the building. The code is written in such a way as to ensure adequate power is available to the track, not just to the lights that are there today.
