Plus special pieces to join two tracks end-to-end or at a 90* angle. And the parts the will fit over a ceiling box and power the tracks.
There are several manufacturers. Although some parts may be common to more than one, they're mostly closed systems.

What do you mean by mostly closed systems.

Proprietary to that manufacturer.

I went through that awhile back. Heads and track are only to some extent interchangeable with other manufacturers products so it's best to stick with one manufacturer for all the components- track and heads.
