I know that the four-wire mobile home feeder was first specified in 1984 (550.24). Does anyone know when the four-wire ANSI plug and socket (or just a four wire power cord) was first specified for trailers (550.5)?

Oldest Code I have here is 1990. 4 wire (isolated neutral) was required then, if that helps.

I have searched back as far as 1977 and its still there. I wonder if it goes back to post-war (WWII for you young'uns) housing boom?

Art. 550 for Mobile Homes was first introduced in it's entirerty in the 1965. 4-wire cords were required under 550.3(a).

Prior to that, the standard was NFPA Standard 501B.

I need to install a 2 pole, 3 wire, solar powered, clothes dryer at a mobile home. What article is that?

Not sure of the number, but that one is older than the crust on my underwear.
