trainee hours

What is the industry standard for what counts toward trainee hours? Is it the second the trainee gets in the van until the second they exit the van? Or is it actually on the job hours?

As a trainee, the minute you sign in for work. My small company would count your riding time.

I would think whenever they are on the clock i.e. whenever someone is paying the trainee.
