I am trying to prove to members of my team that it is required that all electricians take arc flash training and prove they are qualified. I have been through a couple of different programs with other companies that tested your skills as an electrician and then sent you to a class for your arc flash. At my new place of work, I have been "quizzed" by the senior electrician about my knowledge, handed a set of gloves and sent on my way. This makes me very uncomfortable. Am I wrong to think that there should be more? Am I missing something? What specific information can I present to them that states classes should be attended? What qualifies the senior electrician to "pass" anyone as being qualified if he has never attended any training himself?
