tranformers in class1 division 2

a three phase 480v 45 Kva transformer that the prints show to be floor
mounted--is the enclosure rated nema 9--could you raise the transformer up
to 18" above the ground and have the area around it ventilated--or is ventilation even needed if the transformer is above 18'--is it a general
practice to set the transformer on the floor and have it encapsulated?

Look at 501.100(B). Standard transformers are permitted to be used in Class I, Division 2 areas.

I am making the assumption that the classiciation is Class I , Division 2. If that is correct, see [NEC 2005] Section 500.100(B).
