I currently live in Oklahoma where i have got all my experience as an electrician. I've been considering moving to Texas but, from what i understand my license is not honored there. I'm not a journeyman yet but i have my hours and testing within the month. My question is once i get my journeyman's and end up deciding to move to Texas, what kind of steps am i going to have to take to get my journeyman's in Texas.

Oklahoma and Texas

Oklahoma and Texas are making headway with reciprocity, Texas is ready and waiting while Oklahoma has had some staffing changes.:blink: I'm hoping within the year that it'll be done, but I'm not holding my breath,:happysad: Texas has been waiting on Oklahoma for 5 years.

I see from your post that you are nearing your journeyman's test for Oklahoma. This is what I would do, you will have to have the contractors you have worked for, verify your hours in Oklahoma. I would also get the contractors while they are verifying your hours for Oklahoma, verify them for Texas also and take the Texas test.

I would get started on the verification now, sometimes it will take some contractors time to respond. I always sent a self addressed stamped envelope with the form, I usually got them within the next two weeks. The links posted are for the license application, for both states;
