I have a 150 Amp transfer switch. On the inside of the ATS is a label that lists many specific over-current devices and the corresponding max short circuit current the ATS can be used for when paired with one of the specified breakers. The amp ratings for many of these breakers exceeds the rated amps of the switch. For instance it looks like a 400 amp breaker can be used ahead of this switch if it's GE SGL4. Is this label saying this particular 400 amp breaker be used for this 150 amp switch? Or is this a generic label and I should know that the breaker ahead of this ATS can not exceed it's 150 amp rating?

The top label is likely generic, the bottom specific. You appear to be limited to a 22,000 amp withstand rating.

I agree with Nuber that label covers many different switches. The OCPD ahead of the switch cannot exceed 150 amps according to the nameplate.
