Transformer for lighting fixture

Any recommendations on how to accommodate a handful of 120V lighting fixtures from a 277V circuit that is circuiting other nearby 277V fixtures? Would a transformer be allowed above the ceiling? Would the primary 277V circuit serving the transformer need to be dedicated or could it also power other 277V fixtures?

The primary serving the transformer could also serve other loads but you would have to meet the requirements of 450.3 as to maximum size allowed.

Don’t know legal it would be for us to do it, but some manufacturers use multi tap ballasts as an auto transformer to step down the voltage. One per fixture.
Funny. I used a multi-tap ballast as an autotransformer to get 480 for a DC power supply I found for my CNC machine.
