I am involved in wiring a machine for use in Europe. I plan on using a transformer to go from their 220 single phase to 110 single phase. I am aware of the 50 cycle. how would I wire the primary? ground to case, other two wires to high side connections?

Re: transformer hook up

Don't think you can go wrong?

- The equipment grounding conductor to the case, like on any equipment.

- The two wires on the primary to the incoming 220-240V

- The two wires on the secondary to the 110-120V for the equipment.

Don't use an autotransformer. (Maybe OK on a large industrial machine designed to be hardwired.)

Re: transformer hook up

One of the 110 volts legs should be grounded.

In addition, if any induction motor is on the machine, the 50 Hz will reduce the RPM, you know that.
