Transformer location

We are installing a 150 kva transformer in a commercial building. The transformer is in a seperate room than the panelboard it is serving. As long as the secondary conductors comply with 240.21(c)(2)is there any reason why the overcurrent device needs to be "in sight of" the transformer? This is a serious break room discussion.

Re: Transformer location

I am not aware of any requirement in the nEC for a transformer to have a disconnect insight. 240.21(C) (2) is a 10 foottap rule, there is a good chance if the conductors are sized properly (C) (6) will be applicable seeing that the lenght in this section refers to total length of conductor. 10' is kinda short the 25' may be a bit better
