Transformer OCPD

I'm looking at table 450.3(A), particularly footnote 1.

In most other codes, there is a provision that addresses severability. Such as: When the code argues against itself, the more specific and the more stringent rules shall apply. I don't see that in the NEC.

So, with that in mind, if I have an OCPD over 800 amps, am I permitted to use the footnote discussed above (which makes no referance to art.240), or does 240.4(C) apply?

Re: Transformer OCPD

Ryan,
You can use the note. 240.4 only applies to OCPDs that are protecting conductors. It does not apply to OCPDs that protect equipment. The only time that the OCPD for equipment can be rounded up is when the section that requires the equipment OCPD specifically permits the rounding up as in this case.
