Has anyone experienced severe corrosion of bus bars and grounds of a switchgear or transformer? If so...could this be due to a faulty ground system?

Re: Transformer/Switchgear Corrosion

My experience with corrosion has been primarily due to air quality. I have found that equipment and wiring in structures with well-water and no water purification treatment have a high susceptability to corrosion, primary due to mineral content in the water tat is relaeased in the air as humidity. Especially sulfer. It turns eveything greenish-black.

Re: Transformer/Switchgear Corrosion

The ground side displays the most corrosion. I would post a picture...if I only knew how...

Anyway...the switchgear and transformer are 50 feet apart in different rooms. The only connection is through the cable conduit and ground system.

could be there is something getting through the conduit? I was in one place where there was a noticable breeze coming through a large conduit into a control panel. the inside of the control panel smelled musty as the air coming in through the conduit was quite damp. I seem to recall suggesting a ventilation fan to bring dryer air into the control panel to remove the dampness. don't know iof the end user ever did it.
