transformer to transformer installation

we have an apartment complex with multiple buildings. there is one main service room with 480v. they feed from the service to underground cable to a 480 to 208 transformer in the secondary building. they want to add water source heat pumps in these units. are there any code violations or hidden potentials if we install a 480v to 600v transformer in the main building and a 600v to 208v tranformer in the secondary building. this would eliminate the need to replace the existing under ground feeder. thank you for your input.

Sounds fine to me. I'm gonna pull a Marc and say if you're reusing old conductors, you might consider putting a megger on them before hooking them up to 600V.

Bear in mind, I've never played with 600V. :)
