I guess I've never quite seen anything like this outin the open. BTW, this isn't in a room or anything. It's out in the parking garage.:confused:

Yeah John, they rack the conductors free in air and hit the transformer....nothing unusual. I go in the vaults when POCO is around just to stay warm.:smile:

looks like they have a barrier and it is non combustible construction. Read article 450. And do not forget, as Bob mentioned this is a POCO regulated Transformer...NEC does not apply.

Exactly. I knew that the NEC didn't apply, it was just the 1st time I had had the chance to see inside one. I wish I had my camera.

The 120v lighting circuits in conduit, the 15kv just racked. Just seems a little strange...
 
The only thing that strikes me as odd is the flimsy "door" on that. Usually the poco vaults around here have a much more substantial door.
 
That separates it from the street, where I took the picture. Inside the garage, it is just sitting in the corner, no bollards, no nothin
