We have a GE xfmer delta/wye config. 13,200 volts to 575Y/332 question is we have 575 between each phase but to ground we have 545-546-75 volts reading to ground on the last leg everything is normal operational wise how do you explain the voltage readings from ground being different? We have other delta/delta and we read 327 to ground on all phases and this is the only delta /wye system at our plant do we have a problem? Thanks in advance

Re: Transformer

Sounds like your Delta-Wye secondary might be ungrounded.

You can get unpredictable voltage-to-ground readings in an ungrounded system, depending on the distributed capacitance in the system conductor insulation.

Re: Transformer

I agree with ED, your Xo or GEC is floating. If everything is connected poly-phase, it will operate normally. If you have single phase connections, they will not work nor your OCPD's.

Re: Transformer

Thanks everyone thats what we have ungrounded wye secondary. It just threw us a curve being we`re used to seeing the delta / delta configuration. We had a motor fail and one of the guys brought up about the voltage to ground being odd from what we`re used to.I just couldn`t explain it very well.
