clearance around transformers, 600volts or less, less than 112.5kva(actually its 45kva)
i am looking at 450.21 (A) 12 inch from combustable materials. the exception right below states this rule does not apply to transformer rated 600volts or less that are completely enclosed, with or without ventilating openings, which this one questions. we have a 45kva transformer that has a metal pole 8" infront of it.
any help
thanks as always

Transformer clearence has been discussed here before. It seems that most don't feel that 110.26 applies because there are no servicable parts inside. I believe that as long as you install via the manufactures requirements (rear wall 12" etc....) and Art 450, you should not have a problem. Make sure your transformer does not incroach on the space of other equipment. As far as the pole in front of the equipment, IMO that is just bad placement, can the transformer be shifted to one side or the other? The pole is just going to make the wiring a pain, since you will have to work around the pole.
