I feel embarresed posing this question but the way it's worded is tricky.

All transformers shall be readily accible to qualified personel or shall be:
A) dry-type xmfr's over 600 volts and not exceeding 75 kva located in hollow spaces of buildings.
B) dyr-type xmfr's 600 volts or less located in the open on the walls, columns or structures.
C) dry-type xmfr's 600 volts or less located more than 15 ft. above the floor.
D) askeral-insulated xmfr's installed indoors and rated over 25kva.

I chose; b) I would have chose A) but it didn't say 75 kva And can't find the answer worded in code section.

I agree with you and with Chris.

Don?t be. That is why we are here. But I do agree that this is a tricky one. I really hope, for your sake, that the types of questions you have been posting are not representative of the questions you will face on your master?s exam. You have come across some real doozies, and they must have been written by a person with a warped sense of humor.

Here is what I suggest, if you get this type of question on your exam. Look for the ?key words and tricky phrases.? As an example, here is how I found the answer to this question:
? It was about transformers, so I knew it would be in 450 somewhere.
? I knew there were rules about different types of transformers, so I looked in and around 450.21 to 450.27. I didn?t see anything there about being readily accessible.
? I spotted the word Askarel, which was in one of the answers. But the readily accessible part wasn?t there either.
? Looking on the previous page, I came across 450.13. That title was ?accessibility,? and not ?readily accessible,? so I missed it the first time through. But then the text of that article did include the ?key words and tricky phrase? of ?readily accessible.? So I figured it had to be there. The sub-part (B) spoke of hollow spaces, but the number was 50, not 75. So it was obvious that the test question?s author had grabbed those words, and changed the number, to make that answer sound possible and still be wrong.
? Then I saw the exact words from answer (B) in 450.13(A), and I knew that was it.
