Transition from MC cable to EMT

Currently our local AHJ is having an issues our transition of 500-500-500-500-2/0 MC cable to EMT. Our team used a two Screw MC connector to a rigid threaded coupling to an EMT connector. The AHJ wants us to have juction boxes unless we can prove the NEC approves this type of transistion. This ytpe of transition happens all the time with #12 MC to 1/3" EMT.
Where can I find information and code to prove to the AHJ that we are meeting the code?

What you describe is common and while it is a ticky tack violation the inspector is correct. Ridgid couplings are only meant for ridgid pipe and EMT and MC connectors are only meant for lock rings.

Action is correct. Those fittings are not listed to be used that way.
Inspector is probably a member here......
It only seems to bother nitpickers and hairsplitters. ;)
There are fittings made for that transition just not real sure in what sizes....

As mentioned this is a technical violation but IMO since you have an EGC within the cable and you're not relying on the illegal transition for the ground continuity then I wouldn't care less if you did that way. A few dollars worth of fittings versus installing a box seems silly but it is technically the correct way to do it.

Just as an aside threaded hubs like those installed into the top of meter enclosures have the same RMC and IMC only requirements but about 95% of all services around here utilize illegal SE connectors, EMT connectors or PVC terminal adapters threaded into those hubs.

I thought that, too, then I ran across something in the listing that allowed for the meter hubs. Sorry, no link. If I can find something I will post it.
