Can I put an Electrical Panel in a trash room to feed the compactor and other trash related equipment?
According to the Plan Inspector I cannot. He makes reference to NFPA 5000 CH. 8.15, 8.17 Does any one have a copy of this Code?

Wow, did your county or municipality actually adopt the NFPA 5000? If the code is enforced in you work area, you should probably have a copy. If it isn't adopted in your area, you should find out why he is citing it.

"to feed the compactor and other trash related equipment?"

I dont see why not.... I dont have that code, but it is not as if it were a main, or LCP....

8.15 is Chapter 8 - Fire Resistive Materials and Construction

8.15 Special Hazard Protection.
8.15.1 General.
8.15.1.1* Protection from any area having a degree of hazard greater than that normal to the general occupancy of the building or structure shall be provided by one of the following means:
(1) Enclose the area with a fire barrier without windows that has a 1-hour fire resistance rating in accordance with Section 8.4.
(2) Protect the area with automatic extinguishing systems in accordance with Section 55.3.
.................

8.15 has some other stuff for "severe hazzards".

8.17 Rubbish Chutes and Laundry Chutes.
8.17.1 Rubbish chutes and laundry chutes shall be separately enclosed by walls or partitions in accordance with the provisions of Section 8.4.
...................

8.17 has more details about openings into rooms and other areas.

You said this is a trash room right? Not a chute? I don't see anything about "electric" in those sections.

THAT'S RIGHT. I'VE BEEN DOING IT THIS WAY FOR A WHILE NOW, AND THIS IS THE ONLY TIME AN INSPECTOR HAS PROMPTED FOR A CHANGE
