I was researching Methods of butt treatment for wooden poles

Untreated Beech wood decays in about four years. Beech timber treated decays about fifteen percent in twenty years. Untreated Oak decays approximately ninety percent, in twenty years, and only forty percent when treated.

Why is Beech wood so receptive to butt treatment?

Google "Osmose"

Modern poles are "Penta" poles
I agree. We use a lot of 'blackjack' poles and we also use Osmose to inspect and treat our poles on a ten year cycle. We used to use almost exclusively CCA (chromated copper arsenic) poles and they really held up (and are still holding up) well.
