what's the estimated cost by foot for trenching and backfill 4" by 24" by 150' long

Depends a lot on site access and soil geology, but 4-5 bucks a foot is about what I've been getting after markup on the trenching sub for "normal" trenches around that dimension. That's very tyical Ditch Witch work. If it was harder geology, and you need a wheel excavator, it might be quadrouple or more that price.

The only way not to loose your shirt would be T&M on the digging... you never know what your going to come across...

Sub out to an excavating contractor - and let them price it for you to mark up for coordination.
