It all depends on soil conditions.

The soil conditions are a black gumbo. That is like a clay base.

I have no experience in black gumbo clay, but I heard it's tough, almost to the point if I was tasked to dig by hand, I'd quit.

Some here may have dug it before.

I use would use .10 per foot for hand digging/backfil which equals 10 hrs per 100' as to 2 hrs using trencher

I understand. I was kinda wanting to see what others may have in there software as for man-hours. I have approx 15' trenching by hand, and 240' with a walk behind trencher. I just do not have any man hour rates for this type of work.

I have a guy here who will trench 6" X 32" deep for $.50 a foot. We do the backfill.

I got out of the digging business now I sub a backhoe operator I tell him how far and how deep and he gives me a price.

I know when we installed field tile (20+ yrs ago) the price was
$.10 a foot /a foot. (run and depth, w/ditch witch)

I looked up the year 2000 construction pricing data, trencher in sandy clay 6 wide 36" deep $1.50 LF last year we paid $174 for the same trenching. The 174 is from our actuals.

New construction with combo of duct bank (back hoe) and pole lights ( trenching) I go $6.50 ft.

I have a job here no that has 4- 3" for 500' and pole lights trenching for 600' my price sheet is at $7150.

Back hoe and operator is $1000 mobilization fee plus $75.00 a hour, 3 days $3250 bucks. Two days digging waiting on inspection then back fill Then that leaves me trencher for 3 days and 32 hours for 2 guys to get the lights piped in inspected and backfill. The duct bank may also need compaction.
