I was wondering if there was a resource that lists what type of remodel work would require the existing related equipment to be upgraded as nesscessary to comply with the latest NEC, or more likely the exceptions that might allow the existing equipment to "Grandfather" in.
At present I'm specificly wondering about Single-Family Residential where the existing has non-grounded receptacles (2pronged-Black/White no Green or bare copper) and the work would be running grounded conductors for each affected Breaker from the panel ground bus to New Grounded receptacles (3pronged grounded).
My question being would this work require that the Breaker or Panel or any affected systems other than the receptacles involved be "brought up to Code"?

Welcome to the forum.

Check with our local building authority.

Here, if you renovate 50% or more by floor area, present code applies.

There are a few requirements that are not subject to grandfathering, examples replacement receptacles must comply with current code for WR, TR, GFCI, AFCI. Panel schedules have to be current, service fault current calcs.

I agree. Truth be told, I hate the term "grandfather".
