I have plans that show one feeder breaker from panelboard sized 200A with one feeder that feeds control panel which feeds 3 separate 10HP 208V three phase triplex booster pumps.

I am not sure if control panel has OCPD and overload for each of the pumps or not. Its at plan review stage

Question:

1. Assuming the control panel does NOT have OCPD and overload how would one size the feeder breaker for all three pumps?

2. Assume the control panel does have OCPD and overload. Using 430.62 10HP has fla of 30.8A. 30.8ax2.5=77A. So next size up is 80A. So now I add 80+30.8+30.8=141.6A. So the feeder breaker size should be 125A not sure how to get 200A? Does anyone know?

As a control panel t should meet all the provisions of Art 409.
430.62(B) would allow a larger OCPD as long as rhe feeder condcutors are sized accordingly and the OCPD does not exceed a manufacturer's rating.

The feeder is supplying the control panel which feed three 10HP 208V three phase pumps.

Does not each motor need branch circuit OCPD and overload protection? Is this inside the control panel?

Can the feeder breaker upstream control panel protect all three motors if their is no ocpd in control panel?

Who would have the manufacturers OCPD rating the control panel manufacturer? I dont follow.

Also If lets says that the manufacturers ocpd is 80A for each pump then would that not exceed?

Ask the designer these questions, the members here do not have the information in front of them like you and the designer do.

I would assume #2. Look at 409.20(C).

Ok. The control panel is located in parking garage level in high rise building that has condos for water supply of the building. Would the control panel be considered industrial control panel in this case and 409 apply?

Your job stops as the power input to the control panel....the panel will be designed and built to properly protect the motors.

It would be somewhat rare to have the information you want even at the bidding stage. At that point the panel probably has not even been designed....all you and the EC needs to know is the required feeder size for the panel. If there are any issues with the control panel design it will be caught on the document submissions to the engineer and EC when the project is built....if they don't catch the issues, then maybe the inspector will.
