tripping gfci

Have a SS8 intermatic timer that tripps the gfci outlet every time it turns on, funny thing is, gfci outlet doesn't trip any other time (timer controls power to the outlet.)on a single pole switch no problems on off outlet works great. have changed out the timer three times now and the gfci outlet twice. what gives??? and it's not the wiring:-?

The SS8 is discontinued now (due to many problems, perhaps?). The functional replacement is the EI600.

tired of messing with these timers, as they do fail offen. i like the ss8, i just wish they would work. any way single pole to the rescue.
