This is probably just coincidence, but it seemed odd. Two Hunter fans in adjacent bedrooms. Both remote control units, but not the same model (one has the relay in the canopy, the other is in the light kit). On both fans, the fan remote works fine, but the light relay does not work (lights always off).

Any thoughts? Surge, defective??

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Troubleshooting (Hunter Fans)

I "burned one out" myself. It failed in much the same manner. In my case, I was lamping the light kit while the light was on. Second lamp in, as soon as it made contact, bam... light kit no longer works. I didn't find any prohibition in the documentation against hot relamping, but it sure took one out before my very eyes.

Hunk,

I would suspect that your new lamp had an internal short which zapped the relay. Or, maybe a defective socket?
