Truck Bins..AAAARRRRRRGGGGG!!!!

OK....I have looked everywhere i can think of...Grainger, fastenal, and the internet. I need some good quality plastic bins for my service truck. The shelf openings are 14'' Deep x 7 1/2'' tall. So I would like bins about 13'' long x7'' tall, and about 8 to 10 inches deep. WHERE can i find such bins????Really really really need some SOON!!! HELP!!!!

7" tall is going to be rare. Something that deep is hard to find stuff in. Most are 4" max.

Off hand, US Plastic is a good place to look for such containers.

One of the 'AcroBins' is a touch too long, but the front is tapered, so it might fit perfectly.

I have spent decades experimenting and looking for resources to organize trucks. About 10 years ago I came upon a really good bin resource.

Global Equipment Company Inc

This is the style of bin. You can get dividers and put them into slots every 2 inches. (Use PVC gray glue to help hold them in place.)

Search around the website for the different sizes available. They come in 12" and 18" depths. Ideally you build your shelving to fit the bins so you can maximize space. I went with the 18" deep bins and most of them are the narrow ones. I included a few larger ones for some big items but 95% of typical electrical stock fits perfectly into the 5" wide bins.

If you build the shelving to fit the bins you can really cram a lot of stuff in.

I have had some of these in service for over 10 years and haven't broken a single bin.



I would seriously consider finding a way to extend your shelves to accomdate the 18" deep bins. You will get 50% more storage space.

What type of truck is it going in? service body, truck bed, homebuilt shelving? I bought bins from Grainger for my Royal service body and they fit great. ( in the flip down bin) I use them for devices, cover plates, Breakers, and fittings. they fit perfectly onto the supplied shelf. I think thay were acro bins

How about plastic shoe boxes, like these:

They're exactly 14" long at the rim (11.5" at the base), and about 7.5" wide, and about 4.5" deep. Not as deep as you wanted, but you can open them while still in the shelf.

Or you could adjust the shelves (if possible) for single or double stacks. We found them for $1 at either HD or Walmart. I can check receipts if you need to know.

Stanley makes a nice stackable storage box sold at most hds or lowes they are the best I have seen but I stock a pickup and I had custom toolboxes installed that fit 6 large and 3 half size storage boxes per side of the cap. The half sizes I keep small screws and parts in because they lay flat.

I used these years ago because they were cheap and it's all I could find. The problem is that you can't easily divide them and a whole bin that size is too much for most things.

I use hundreds of them in my warehouse though where I have more space.
