Doing a building for a fire dept. The building is being used for training and storage. There will be a bay that is walled off from training room that will be used to park a small fire truck. Would this space even be classified as div.1 class 1?

I wouldn't think so. Did you read the FPN following 500.5(B)(3)?

Yes Chris I did. The only reason I was wanting to make sure I didn't miss anything is they said they had a problem with an inspector in the main building. He requried them to move the generial use recpt. to 5' AFF. Could have been because they had 8 trucks parked inside:confused:

If storing 8 trucks is the concern, the more appropriate references would be Articles 511 and 514. These Articles now have a common external reference: NFPA 30A, Code for Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities and Repair Garages. They are much clearer defining electrical area classifications than Article 500, especially since 2008.

With adequate ventilation it?s unlikely the general floor area is classified at all ? even when dispensing fuel. In any case, there was never a general need to install the receptacles 5' AFF.
